Apple Picking

Last weekend we went apple picking with Megan and Blake. Apple picking is one of my favorite fall activities. There is something so fun about actually picking the fruit from the tree where it was grown. The air is usually cool and the leaves are slightly tinged with color. And you get to try lots of apples! YUM!

Mark and I had the intention of picking maybe about 8 pounds of apples. I want to make apple butter which requires 5 pounds. However, we somehow ended up with 16 pounds! What can I say? We got caught up in the funness of apple picking! Also...apples are heavy and it's pretty easy to pick 16 pounds in a short amount of time.

The farm where we went apple picking is really beautiful. Rolling hills...cute farmhouse. AND I saw a hummingbird! I even got video of it!

Apple projects so far-
3 apples = Apple pancakes
4 apples = Apple tart

43 apples left. I'm thinking some apple muffins would be good.

Oh oh! These apples look so delicious! I just made some whole wheat apple muffins ( http://celesteswanderlust.blogspot.com/2010/08/whole-wheat-apple-muffins.html ) a few weeks ago and they were delicious! If you have the ingredients, I highly recommend it!

Jealous! Maybe one day I will live somewhere where I can pick apples haha. We just had apple day at school and made apple butter and made bread from home-milled flour. It was delicious. I have been canning/bread baking with a friend and it makes me miss you because this stuff would be so fun to do together!
