I got a job!

Well I got 2 jobs...sort of, but I'm only keeping one.

The first job I got was at a restaurant called Bon Appetit. It's really near my house and is a pretty small restaurant. I went in for an interview Sunday and that's when things started getting a little strange. The interview turned out to be training...which I wasn't dressed appropriately for at all. I was confused, but went along with it. Training went pretty well...like I said the place is small so there wasn't much business at all. The owner was pretty nice, but is also the chef and manager. There was one other kitchen staff (but he spoke only Spanish). So, a normal shift would be just a waitress (one) and the two of them. Not ideal for meeting people (which I was hoping a job would help me do) and could potentially be awkward if I don't get along with the boss since there's no one else there...including not many customers. I left feeling alright about the job, and planning to train again on Friday night, but then I realized I had no idea if I actually "had" the job so I called the restaurant. Apparently I was supposed to do a 3 week trial period (which he has another girl doing too) and then he'd pick who he got along with better.

The more I thought about it the less ideal this seemed. What if I put in the time and then didn't get it? Also, I had doubts about how much money I'd actually make since business was/is definitely not booming there. So I decided to go ahead with an interview I had lined up at Eddie Bauer (the clothing store).

After interviewing there for 20 minutes I got the job! Hurrah! The whole job search has been much much easier than I ever dreamed. The girl who interviewed me was really nice and so was the other woman working that day. The pay isn't great and the mall isn't exactly close (it's about a 20 minute drive), but it's a definite thing and the people and atmosphere there seems really good. I also get 50 percent off most of the clothes! (double hurrah)

I go into train today! I'll let everyone know how it went later and more on Madison, but now I have to get ready to go into work!
