First Visit to Madison/Aparment Hunt

For those of you who don't know a good majority of Madison is on an isthmus. An isthmus is a narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas. Downtown, Tandem, and my future home is on this isthmus.

I spent this past weekend in Madison(my first visit there!!) searching for an apartment. I love Madison (which is good since I'm moving there in August), and I found an apartment!!!

These pictures aren't from my actual apartment, but you get the general idea. I'm living about half a mile from Tandem and the local organic grocery store.

My apartment from the outside.

Small Park less than a block down the street from my apartment.

Lake Monona (as viewed from the park) on a rainy day.

My mom came with me on my weekend trip to Madison, and we had lots of fun exploring. Highlights were:

-dandelion fuzz flying through the air as we drove down the highway
-finding a polka music radio station (all accordion)
-the saturday farmer's market
-trying cheese curds (it squeeks when you chew it!)
-eating freshly made ice cream on UW's campus
-drinking coffee on top of Monona Terrace, whilst enjoying views of Lake Monona
-dinner at Roman Candle Pizza with Benjamin
-delicious coffee at Ancorra Coffee
-entire STORES devoted to CHEESE (and it's as good as you hear)
-walking out on picnic point, picnicking and gazing upon Lake Mendota
-the most delicious banana split at Roman Candle Pizza
- dinner with Nick and his parents
-finally seeing Tandem and meeting everyone I'll be working with next year
- driving around and seeing all the cool old houses in Madison

and knowing I have a year to explore more! :-)

I will post more pictures from the trip later.
