Hard Work Pays Off...Sometimes...

Today I got the results of the print lottery. Let me explain. If you volunteer or work at Tandem both semesters of a year you get to be part of the print lottery. There's a pool of prints to choose from. You rank them and then names get pulled out of a hat. So if you get picked first you get your 1st choice. If you get picked second you get your 1st choice that isn't taken...and on and on and on.

So.

I got picked third and got my third choice. Which is still a REALLY AWESOME PRINT!

Judy Pfaff is a really awesome artist. Her prints are some of my favorite that Tandem produces.

Apple Picking

Last weekend we went apple picking with Megan and Blake. Apple picking is one of my favorite fall activities. There is something so fun about actually picking the fruit from the tree where it was grown. The air is usually cool and the leaves are slightly tinged with color. And you get to try lots of apples! YUM!

Mark and I had the intention of picking maybe about 8 pounds of apples. I want to make apple butter which requires 5 pounds. However, we somehow ended up with 16 pounds! What can I say? We got caught up in the funness of apple picking! Also...apples are heavy and it's pretty easy to pick 16 pounds in a short amount of time.

The farm where we went apple picking is really beautiful. Rolling hills...cute farmhouse. AND I saw a hummingbird! I even got video of it!

Apple projects so far-
3 apples = Apple pancakes
4 apples = Apple tart

43 apples left. I'm thinking some apple muffins would be good.

Quick Update

Mark's two best friends- Jeff and Chris came to visit! Jeff brought his son Isaac.

He's really cute. He loved my melodica.

We played Hide and Seek. You can see Isaac hiding next to the couch. He hid there almost every time.

Mark...hiding...his new favorite game in our apartment. Yes. He's under the kitchen sink.

The most delicious cake ever (Mark's words...I'd have to agree)

Ride the Drive- Just biking around Madison with thousands of other people...and Lance Armstrong. They close down a lot of the major roads and they're open just for bikes.

Tom and Mark biking down East Washington Ave

Sushi Night! We prepped way too much stuff, but other than that it was a success!

Catching up...or at least posting something

Summer was wonderful. I might never catch up on blogging and posting pics about it.

But here's a return to my weekly Farmer's Market bounty pic.

Mmmmmmmmm.
